Max Bialystock was once the king of Broadway, but now he only seems to be able produce flops. Things turn around for Max when he's visited by the neurotic accountant Leo Bloom, who proposes a scheme tailor-made for producers who can only make flops: raise far more money than you need, then make sure the show is despised. For newlyweds Carl and Molly Peterson, life is sweet. With a nice house and established careers, nothing seems to get in the couple's way. However, Carl's best friend, Dupree, has just been displaced from his home and fired from his job for attending their wedding. Taking his friend in for what should just be a "few days", turns into a lot more than they bargained for.
